Job site: Seek.com.au
Australia's number one job site, Seek, is certainly clear and attractive.
Your needs come first: you're invited to run a search from the home page, either by keyword, location and work category, or by browsing the work categories.
Browsing might be a bad idea though, as there are thousands of jobs on the site - do check the figures given before starting to do go through the pages.
Use Advanced Search
The search software is supremely efficient. Go to the Advanced Search and you can specify keywords, locations, work category, contract type and age of advert. Various subcategories allow you to pinpoint your requirements.
You also have the option of including adverts that don't specify locations. When the list of results comes up, you can check boxes to indicate which jobs you'd like to know more about.
This saves a lot of clicking back and forth, as you can then scroll through the job details you're most interested in. As with most job sites, you can also save searches, adverts and applications, request email alerts and upload your resume.
If you know quite a bit about who your potential employers are likely to be, you can also search by Recruiter or Employer name.
There are also three search pages that are solely dedicated to senior executive jobs (i.e. salaries of AUS$80K or higher, of which there are over 3,000 listed), IT jobs (21,000 listed) and UK jobs.
The UK page is slightly different, as it invites you to state whether you're ready to work now, or in 6 months' time once your visa processing is complete.
Career Resources
The Career Resources pages offers advice on resume writing, applications and interviewing techniques. There are also tools and guides for assessing your skills and developing your career.
If you want to know more about training and development options, you can follow a link through to the seektraining.com.au sister site for more guidance and information.
One important tip: go to the bottom of the page and click on 'Safe Job Hunting'. This page contains important information about keeping your details and identity secure when enquiring about and applying for jobs online.

Information for Employers and Recruiters
Single adverts in Seek cost AUS$236.50 plus GST, whether you opt to put them in the main site or IT sub site for 30 days. A Premium advert highlighted at the top of results for 7 days will cost more, at $286 plus GST.
You can edit the advert at any time and view statistics to show viewings and applications received. A Candidate List enables you to manage applications.
You have the option of upgrading any of these to over 100 words for a duration of 30 days, at extra cost. You can also purchase a standard or customised template for extra branding at $236.50 plus GST.
If you are likely to advertise three or more positions over six months, multi-advert packages can save you 10%-40%. These range from 3-advert packs costing $643.50 (saving $214.50) to 100-advert packs costing $14,311 (saving $143).
You can also search resumes, looking for candidates according to the following criteria: salary expectation, location, industry, work type, date received, work status, country of residence, education and willingness to relocate.
You can bulk email potential candidates. You can, of course, communicate with particular candidates directly, or via the site (if they want their contact details kept private) and save searches. Rates for this service vary according to your requirements.
