Job site: monster.ca
Monster.ca is the Canadian arm and original site of a truly global venture, with dedicated websites in many countries.
On the home page, you are invited to search for a job straight away. You can search by keyword, category and location, or pursue the Advanced Search option, where you can opt to sort results by date and relevance, and request a detailed or brief description.
As with most jobs sites, Monster enables you to post your resume, either by using the sites own resume builder or by uploading your own document. You have to register first. On the left-hand menu, you are also offered the chance to search International Jobs.
From the home page, you can access advice about targeted employment areas, such as jobs in the Healthcare, Technology or Human Resources. You can read information on writing your resume and preparing for interviews in the various fields. A section for Students focuses on particular requirements when looking for your first job.
The site offers yet more: career headlines bring you the latest news about trends in different sectors and job areas. Meanwhile, various 'centres' focus on stages of job hunting, such as self-evaluation, writing resumes, preparing for interviews, changing careers and calculating salaries.
While the home page is simpler than some of the monster sites in other countries, the difficulty of this site is that there is so much information on offer, that once you start reading, it is very easy to get lost as navigability is poor.

Advertising a job is easy. If you're interested in advertising, you can view a demo and Buy Now, Post Later almost as quickly. This option is available in the form of a Job Postings package, where you can buy a year's membership and post as many jobs as you want to, saving up to 17% through bulk purchasing (for example, when posting 7 jobs you can save over CA$500 by paying in advance). Otherwise, you can post a single job at a standard rate. Packages are also available for advertising and searching resumes.
You may prefer to search resumes only - options begin at CA$850 for 500 views over a 2-week period. Try the free test drive to see how you can select candidate criteria.
Once you've posted a job, Monster offers many tools to make managing the applications easier. You can utilise applicant tracking and screening to filter the applications. You can also draw on more specialised Monster services, such as Hiring Tools, which help you design advert and optimised your job advert writing.
You can purchase bespoke Resume Mining services, with applicants being hand-picked on your behalf. Then there is advert distribution to multiple career websites, banner advertising, buttons, etc.
If you're not sure where to start, the Resource Centre offers online tutorials and information. However, the information pages are not very navigable - simplicity is reserved for the advert booking pages.
