How much does a CV service charge?

It depends on what sort of service you want. The majority of CV services offer little more than the traditional CV typing service. They are comparatively cheap though, charging anything from £30 to £200 for a CV.

If you pay just £50 or £100 for your CV, don't expect to get a professional copywriter with 10 years' experience in the recruitment industry. You'll get a typist or someone with just recruitment or HR experience. Think about it: professional services like solicitors and accountants typically charge £90 to £190 (or more) per hour. The AA says you'll typically pay £64 to £96 an hour for labour at a Ford garage when you have your car serviced or repaired, whilst BMW garages typically charge £111 to £180 per hour.

Most CV services only spend 1 or 2 hours on your CV, because each member of staff needs to produce 4 or 5 CVs each day. Don't forget that the salaries of their staff are only one component of their costs. If they charge £100, then this £100 also has to pay for sales, marketing, advertising, taxes, IT, etc, which means that very little is left to spend on your CV.

There can often be 200, 300 or more applicants for these jobs and competition can, therefore, be very intense. For £597, you can have a CV that immediately seizes the attention of senior decision-makers, allowing you to beat other applicants to an interview. Professional Cover Letters
